Tan Choon Ghee is one of the most established artists in Malaysia. Born in 1930, Choon Ghee comes from Penang where he studied art at the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts in Singapore in 1951.

Tan Choon Ghee is one of the most established artists in Malaysia. Born in 1930, Choon Ghee comes from Penang where he studied art at the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts in Singapore in 1951. He would then continue to study at the Slade School of Art in the United Kingdom in 1958 where he would eventually be awarded with scholarships from the West Germany government as well as the Australian Broadcasting Commission of Australia.

As one of the veterans in the Malaysian art scene, Choon Ghee is no stranger to art exhibitions in both Malaysia and abroad. His works have been given high regard by critics, art lovers and prominent figures in the industry where he has held countless solo exhibitions as well as involving in group exhibitions. Choon Ghee’s work has been widely exhibited throughout the region where apart from the numerous solo exhibitions in Penang, he has also had solo shows in countries like Singapore as well as Hong Kong.
