Henry Butcher Art Auctioneers will be holding its fifth art auction this coming 21st April 2013. The highly anticipated event would be an exciting event after the last edition (October 2012) when 60% of the artworks sold above their respective estimates and totaled to RM3.74million.
The upcoming Henry Butcher Art Auction would be featuring works from leading Malaysian artists while there will be works by Southeast Asian artists as well. Included for the first time, this will be an effort to create more awareness of Southeast Asian art to the Malaysian market. Artists whose works will be auctioned include the likes of Arie Smit, Popo Iskandar, Frits Ohl, Arifien Neif, Henry van Velthuysen, Erica Hestu Wahyuni, Chen Wen Hsi, and Bui Xuan Phai, among many others.
Perhaps the most anticipated works that will go under the hammer would be the works of Malaysian legend Abdul Latiff Mohidin where Mindscape and Lanskap 2 will be sold. Other Malaysian artists whose works will be showcased and sold include that of Abdullah Ariff, Ahmad Khalid Yusof, Chia Yu Chian, Dato’ Chuah Thean Teng, Patrick Ng, Khalil Ibrahim, Chang Fee Ming, Yusof Ghani, Lee Cheng Yong, Ahmad Zakii Anwar, Jalaini Abu Hassan, Hamir Soib @ Mohamed and Kow Leong Kiang. With such an interesting lineup, collectors and art lovers could expect a visual feast and a great time at the auction.
There will be a Penang preview which will be held on 28th March until 31st March 2013 at a2 Gallery and from 4th to 7th April, the Singapore preview will be held at Helutrans Artspace before the full viewing in Kuala Lumpur from 11th to 20th April at White Box, MAP@Publika. The auction will be on the 21st April 2013 at 1.00pm at the Sime Darby Convention Centre.
