The annual Art Expo Malaysia is back again this coming September. This would be the seventh edition of the international art fair which has attracted a string of art galleries, artists, art lovers and bringing them together for a common cause to our shores.
Art Expo Malaysia is the longest running art fair in South-East Asia and is the brainchild of Datuk Vincent Sim Tiak Choo who started this event back in 2007. The past few editions have seen tribute to great artists like Malaysias Datuk Syed Ahmad Jamal, Dato Chuah Thean Teng, Cheah Yew Saik, Dr Chung Chen Sun as well as South Koreas Jang Soon-Up and Li Chi-Mao of Taiwan.
Expect a lot of exciting events and art shows to come about this year as it promises to be bigger and surely more involvements in charities as per the previous ones.
One of the significant events of the Art Expo was in 2008 where in conjunction with the Beijing Olympic Games, the show involved 250 artists who painted on a single cloth measuring 888-feet which was then presented to the organizing committee of the games. There will be more to come this year with participation from art galleries from around the region like Vietnam, Hungary, China, Singapore, Russia, Indonesia, Japan and Malaysia.
