Art Expo Malaysia 2012 – September 27 to 30

The annual Art Expo Malaysia 2012 will be back this month where it will bring about a variety of art form and bring together a host of artists, galleries and just about anyone in the art scene of the region together.

Often referred to as the ‘mother of all art exhibitions’, it is one of the most anticipated art event of the year and will be held at the Matrade Exhibition and Convention Centre from September 27 to 30. No other places will Malaysians be able to indulge and immerse into the arts which come from all parts of the world with a variety of galleries and prominent art spaces promoting their services as well.

This international art event has been running annually since it first began in 2007 where it has since grown to become one of the major art events of the calendar. From the humble beginnings of just a handful participants, it has expanded to some 60 exhibitors this year who come from 20 countries. This is where you will find the best and most compelling artworks spanning across a wide variety of genres, art from, media and coming in from both ends of the world.

If you haven’t already know, the show was envisioned and kickstared by Mr Vincent Sim who brought the first Art Tourism Malaysia in Ayer Keroh in 2006 at the Malacca International Trade Centre. The participants then found that an art expo of this stature were very effective especially in bridging with the public crowd and before long, the first Art Expo started and the rest like they say, was history. The first edition honoured Dato’ Chuah Thean Teng while Datuk Seyed Ahmad Jamal in the 2008 edition.

There will be transport services provided for those who do like to get to Martrade and they are available from KL Sentral at 10am, 11.30am, 1pm, 3pm and 4.30pm while from Matrade to KL Sentral, the services are at 12.30pm, 2pm, 4pm and 6pm respectively.
