The 1Malaysia Contemporary Art Tourism Festival or 1MCAT is back for another edition this year. Known in short as 1MCAT, the festival is set to bring about more art exhibitions, seminars, and many other programmes to create awareness with the art-loving Malaysian crowd about the arts and culture of the country.
The 1MCAT is scheduled to run for 3 months starting the 1st of July and the activities and events will all be held in major spaces around the country. The objective of the event is to provide the platform for Malaysian art to reach a larger and more global audience.
The event is operated and organized by Tourism Malaysia and has been a pillar of support for the Malaysian art scene over the past few editions. There has been artists whose careers were launched and flourished through this programme while many others had benefited through the related events that has brought about a larger group of art lovers and enthusiasts.
The festival is part of the events that Tourism Malaysia use to attract more visitors to come to the country and that is why there will be some distinctive Malaysian art which will be on show and exhibited which will all demonstrate the unique Malaysian art and culture.
