Soka Gakkai Malaysia or SGM has been a strong advocate of the Malaysian art scene for more than 10 years now. Established in 2001, there has been countless events and activities held for the very reason of promoting the development of culture and arts in the country and its surrounding regions. Since then, there has been countless artists discovered while established ones have been able to further expand their horizons through the likes of seminars, exhibitions and related activities held by SGM.
In 2008, SGM held the first Exhibition of donated works by famous Malaysian Calligraphers and Artists and the latest exhibition will follow through this tradition. There will be some 60 pieces of remarkable artwork contributed by renowned Malaysian artists that can be enjoyed and appreciated by the art-loving public. SGM is also the inaugural winner of the Arts Supporter Award when it was first given out by the then Ministry of Culture, Arts and Tourism in 2004.
This will be one of the events lined up by SGM in conjunction with the 55th Anniversary of the Declaration Calling for the Abolition of Nuclear Weapons by Josei Toda, the second president of Soka Gakkai and as the name implies, seeks to promote and cultivate a culture of peace for the improvement of everyone.
To further enhance the experience, SGM will be holding guided tours which will give you a more in-depth understanding and better appreciation of the artworks. The tours take place on weekends between 11.00am to 5.00pm. Larger groups (more than 20 people) could also arrange for special sessions but prior appointment would be required.
