Malaysias own MoMA (Maison of Modern Art) in Desa Sri Hartamas is currently hosting a group art exhibition entitled Class of 97. This would be a collection of artwork from graduates of Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) who has, over the last few decades produced some of the most compelling and cutting edge art movements in the Malaysian art scene.
Hence, MoMa has brought together a group of artists who graduated in 1997 which have been one of the best years for UiTM which saw the graduation of artists like Roslisham Ismail or more fondly known as Ise, Khairul Azmir Shoib better known as Meme, Rini Fauzan Mohamed Zuhari, Asmawi Ismail and Mat Ali Mat Som whose works are showcased in this show.
The artists were specifically selected by Khairil anwar Mohd Azhari whom he believes are his best students of that year. Since then, the 5 artists have gone on to establish their respective careers which have grown by leaps and bounds. Today, they are renowned artists in their own categories which includes Meme who holds a BA of Fine Arts from UiTM, Shah Alam and an MA majoring in Fine Art and Technology and whose work have been known to encircle around fairy tales and fantasy characters.
