The Pelita Hati Gallery of Art is currently hosting a group exhibition entitled Ilham VII Steampunk. This will be a truly exciting exhibition as it will be featuring sculptures from a group of artists known for their techniques in this art form.
The ILHAM idea is one that Petlia Hati Gallery of Art had envisioned in 2007 where it is an open art exhibition catered mainly for sculptors and artists who are more driven in this area. The title is the BM word for inspiration while some define it as ideas.
The show is Pelita Hatis effort to expand the awareness and appreciation for the art of sculpture among Malaysians. This year, the word Steampunk is added into the title where this sub-genre of science fiction is being included to provide the theme and what the artists can work around on.
Steampunk is based on the industrialized Western civilization during the 19th century where steam power and energy was the main power supply in the commercial areas. This was a time when history, science, innovation and inventions were so well blended that it changed the way people lived forever. This theme would surely be fitting considering that sculptures will involve artistic ideas and the use of various materials like metal and steel which are heavily featured in the Ilham show.
Opening Hours: Mondays to Saturdays 10.00am to 6.00pm
