Group Exhibition – Islamic Art exhibition – International Islamic Art and Calligraphy Exhibition – 5th October 2013 to 13th October 2013

A group exhibition entitled ‘Islamic Art Exhibition 2013’ will be held at mapKL this coming October. As the name implies, the show will be featuring some artwork which are inspired by culture and the unique calligraphy of Islam.

So many contemporary artwork being inspired by Islamic art in recent years with this show putting forth a collection of works from some of the today’s renowned artists. Islamic art has been synonymous with imagery and history where it is never restricted only to religious art. Instead, it has been one of the most exciting themes that has been used by artists around the world for centuries that has transcended the likes of ceramics, paintings, textiles and architecture, just to name a few.

There are works on calligraphy while focuses on architecture and Sufism as well. Artists from Malaysia, Pakistan and Iran have been brought together to present their works in this Global Islamic Art platform. After all, art has always been the few only languages that unite people from different countries and backgrounds.

Malaysia, together with Iran and Pakistan are countries with a rich Islamic heritage and history where Malaysia has a strong and very dynamic art scene which makes this exhibition all the more interesting and exciting.
