The title Multilayered Realities will surely form an artistic image among the viewer as it is put forth by Galeri Chandan in this group exhibition. After all, art has been used for different intentions over the many eras and decades through time.
From the times when visual images were a language until what it is today, art has existed in parallel with civilization and has grown to depict each era so distinctively that it has become an epitome for every passing generation.
This show involves the works of a few Malaysian artists like Halim Rahim and Chot Touch which portray some very thought-invoking photographs.
As Malaysia celebrates Merdeka day and commemorate the unity among the people with the 50th Malaysia Day, the word independence becomes the central theme among the artists. There are different types of genres being presented here with each of the artists demonstrating their artistry and showing what they think our Malaysian identity should be and what they can see through their own lenses. The show exudes a retrospective view of how far the country has come about and shows the typical life and times of Malaysians around the country today, significantly and befitting of the occasion and celebrations.
