HoM (House of Matahati) is currently hosting a group exhibition entitled Seated. The show will run until the 23rd of January 2013 and will be featuring the latest works of some of the most established and emerging Malaysian contemporary artists. This show brings together the group of Malaysian artists known for their figurative paintings and artworks and it involves Kow Leong Kiang, Bayu Utomo Radjikin, Shia Yih Ying, Chin Kong Yee, Marvin Chan, Gan Chin Lee and Chong Ai Lei who recently won the Malaysia Emerging Artists Award 2011.
The works were all produced during several life-drawing sessions held over the past four months where the group came together to call themselves the F Klub. It was envisioned to celebrate human figures in art and the artists had met up for the past 4 years on an ad-hoc basis. Seated will be showcasing the works that came out from these meetings in 2012. How this came about is models were invited to pose for the group and they give their own artistic interpretations of the figures. This followed a known practice that used to be very popular in the past, particularly during the time of the WAG (Wednesday Art Group). Hence, the end result is a very different perspective of styles from the artists encircling along a single subject matter and you can expect works in several mediums.
Opening Hours: Mondays Fridays 11.00am to 6.00pm, Saturdays 1.00pm to 6.00pm
