It can be quite a challenge for an art gallery to operate within a shopping mall more so if it is one of the leading shopping centres in the country. Hence, when the third floor of 1 Utama was designated to become The Ledge, a space dedicated for visual arts and other art form, cutting edge exhibitions and those that are relevant to the shoppers were envisioned. Since opening its doors to the public, The Ledge has brought in a string of contemporary art works that has garnered a lot of hype and to the people around the mall.
Its latest show is entitled Superhero and this is one which will target the younger crowd of art lovers and enthusiasts. As the name implies, Superhero is a group exhibition which integrates art with comics. In fact, it focuses on the topic of superheroes and is an ideal show for those who like to see the varying depiction of the superheroes like Captain America by a group of emerging and established artists of Malaysia. By offering a different perspective and expression of their respective methods and techniques, artists like Anne Samat, Azzat Daniel haris, Baktiar Naim, Donald Abraham, Izzal Khairul Ramli, Steven Menon, Jazmi Mohammd Sharif, Fauzul Yusoff, Mohd Sarip, Shahrul Niza and others are proving that the new generation of contemporary art would be like.
