The Galeri Petronas in Suria KLCC is currently hosting a group exhibition entitled Taman Nurani: Islamic Impressions in Malaysian Contemporary Art. This is a very exciting show that will feature the works of some very established Malaysian artists who will be giving their personal interpretations that are inspired by Islam.
The show is the brainchild of curator Prof Dr Muliyadi Mahamood where Taman Nurani was chosen as the theme based on the literature element of a beautiful garden designed and beautified with a clear and honest heart and soul. Basically, it refers to a heart that has been enlightened and it is quite a theme for the artists to work around with.
The Malaysian contemporary Islamic artworks will be on show until the 17th of February and will be featuring the works of Ilse Noor, Sulaiman Esa, Sharifah Fatimah, Latiff Mohidin and the late Datuk Syed Ahmad Jamal together with 20 others in which a total of 56 pieces of work will be displayed. This is one of the efforts by Galeri Petronas to bring the beauty of Islamic art to the public which have been gaining much momentum in recent years. This is one show that should not be missed for the art lover to be mesmerized by Malaysian artists to show that culture and faith play important roles in contemporary art today.
