The National Visual Arts Gallery or Balai Seni Visual Negara is currently hosting an art exhibition which will be showcasing its most recent acquisitions of artworks. As one of the primary movers of the Malaysian art scene and industry, the National Visual Arts Gallery, through its Lembaga Pembangunan Seni Visual Negara or LPVSN is allocated funding yearly by the Ministry to acquire the best quality and excellent artworks from Malaysian artists around the country.
Hence, the permanent collection owned and managed by the gallery is one that exudes pride and excellence among the Malaysian art community. Apart from that, acquisitions in its collection are also channelled through donations from individuals and institutions and that is what will be seen at its latest show entitled Terbaharu: Koleksi Seni Visual Negara, which when translated means Latest: National Visual Arts Collection which essentially involves the works that were acquired in 2009, 2010 and 2011.
Among the 3 years, the LPSVN has acquired 340 pieces of highly unique and original artworks in several mediums and genre from artists around the country. Among all these new members of the collection, 160 of them have been articulately selected and will be exhibited in this show for the enjoyment of the Malaysian loving public.
