The National Visual Arts Gallery is currently hosting a group show entitled Tiga Sezaman Contemporaries. The show is held at the 3A Gallery of the public art space and will be featuring 3 prominent contemporary artists of Malaysia which are Hamidah Suhaimi, Nora Abdullah and Sivam Selvaratnam.
The 3 artists are no strangers to the Malaysian art scene which have always been dominated by men artists. Hamidah is still very much involved in the art scene where her works have often been seen in private and public art shows for a while now while Sivam Selvaratnam too have been one of the primary movers of the local art scene for decades.
Sivam was one of the pioneers and members of the then WAG (Wednesday Art Group) founded by the late Peter Harris. The WAG has often been regarded to be one of major influences of Malaysian art in the past that has shaped the local art scene to what it is today.
The Tiga Sezaman Contemporaries would be an interesting exhibition would be an interesting platform to appreciate an integrated event of 3 very interesting female artists whose works are unique and original in their own respective techniques and influences.
