The 1MCAT (1Malaysia Contemporary Art Tourism) event is currently going on where there are a wide range of art and culture events being held around the country. Major shopping malls have joined in the festival that includes Sungei Wang Plaza, one of the oldest and perhaps most established shopping malls in Malaysia.
As part of their participation in this years 1MCAT, Sungei Wang Plaza is hosting a group exhibition entitled Colour Me Eco-Friendly. This is a sculpture exhibition which will be showcasing the colourful faces and the multi-cultural backgrounds of the country and is held for 3 months starting from July until the end of September.
The exhibition is held at the Sungei Wang Walk where it is a collaboration with Saito College, a well-established art and design school in Malaysia. The sculptures and installation art works are made from recyclable materials in tandem with the title of the show which means that wood, tins and cans are used by the artists and teams.
The art on display are named Multi-Cube, Multi-Connection, Guardian Stones and The Man Tree which will be depicting a 3-dimensional expression of rich culture and biodiversity of Malaysia with an environmental friendly message to bring home with.
