The Run Amok Gallery in Penang will be hosting a group art exhibition which will run until the 11th of January next year. The title of the show is Eating Wind which is a common phrase use in Bahasa Malaysia and Chinese for holiday or vacation. This phrase has been used in the past to illustrate taking a road trip but that has changed considerably much with cheaper budget air tickets and the way people are planning their trips today.
With the theme, it becomes the central subject matter of this show which is quite appropriately so since Malaysia is among the top tourist destinations in the world today. Moreover, 2014 has been declared as a Visit Malaysia Year and that makes the show all the more fitting.
Art tourism has been quite an exciting facade of Malaysia in recent years especially with the ongoing activities and events like the 1MCAT (1Malaysia Contemporary Art Tourism) festival. This show involves a group of artists from different backgrounds and styles who put forth their interpretation of how a holiday can have implications on not only leisure but in more serious tones like lifestyle and such. This show is curated by Hoo Fan Chon and will feature works presented in very original styles and techniques that each of the artist bring.
