Group Show – Freedom Under Construction: A Malaysia-Myanmar Art Exchange – 12th March 2014 to 29th March 2014

malaysia-freedomunderconstructionHOM (House of Matahati) is currently hosting a group exhibition entitled ‘Freedom Under Construction: a Malaysia-Myanmar Art Exchange’. The show is a joint-effort between HOM Art Trans with the New Zero Art Space in Yangon.
Similarly to some of the exchange shows HOM organized, this one is aim at connecting the art industry from both countries where there can be networking and transfer of knowledge among the artists.

7 Malaysian artists were selected to represent Malaysia where some of them had been involved with programmes organized by New Zero Art Space while 7 artists were selected to represent Myanmar. At the end of the exchange each artist presented 1 piece of their work at the exhibition which centralized around the theme of ‘freedom’ according to their own interpretation.

Among them include Anisa Abdul Aziz who holds a degree and master in fine art from UiTM and was among the finalist at the 2009 MEAA (Malaysian Emerging Artist Award). Intan Rafiza is a curator with the National Visual Arts Gallery while Azam Aris is a Taiping born artist who was once the artist-in-residence at Rimbun Dahan while Cheng Yen Pheng wsa among the finalists at the recent 2013 Yong Contemporary Award.
