Shalini Ganendra Fine Art is presenting an art exhibition entitled Garden of Eden which will be featuring the works of married couple Sanjeewa Kumara and Sujeewa Kumari. This show will provide somewhat yin-yang perspectives of issues pertaining to life, culture and the surrounding issues.
The artists from Sri Lanka are showcasing their works that deal with a lot of issues especially with a thought-provoking title like Garden of Eden. Sujeewa goes into the feminine side of things and issues like loneliness and empowerment although she does not regard herself as a feminist.
Meanwhile, Sanjeewa provides the other half stories through his works that narrates through history and archaeology which can be seen in his use of a unique blend of oil paint and subject matter. Known to be 2 of the most successful contemporary artists from Sri Lanka, the show combines rich traditions, cultural heritage and exemplary techniques of art today. There are 10 pieces of oil on canvas works presented by Sanjeewa which dwells a lot into the mythology and history of South Asia while there are 8 pieces of art work presented by Sujeewa which will inovel paper, combine ink, collage and watercolor among others.
