The Galeri Petronas is hosting a group exhibition entitled The New Olds: Design between Tradition and Innovation at its prestigious space in Suria KLCC. The show is a fresh breakaway from the more commonly associated medium like paintings, sculptures and installations which have been on show at the gallery as this would surely be one of the most unique shows to be put on show in the Malaysian art scene in recent years.
The New Olds exhibition will be featuring 60 furniture displays which as the name implies will be exploring into the cohesion and relationship of traditional designs in the application of contemporary and more modern furniture.
The furniture designs are the works of 45 designers of this exhibition which has been travelling to many parts of the world from its origin in Germany. The artworks are all inspired by tradition and innovation and a lot of creativity which are all revolved around the themes of production, material, process and such.
Apart from that, a workshop and art talk on Beyond Borders will be held by designers Laura Bernhardt and Daniel Juric which will be addressing the similarities of culture in Malaysia and the global scene which will be held in conjunction with the exhibition.
