The 5th Nyoba Kan International Butoh Festival 2012 will be running from the 9th November to the 9th of December 2012 and that would be an interesting festival that celebrates the Butoh performance. Organised and held by Nyoba Kan Malaysia, the only Butoh dance company in the country, there will be a string of events and activities for the culture and arts lovers to immerse into this highly unique art form.
The performing arts began shortly after the Second World War in Japan and has become quite a strong movement of the arts around the world. For the fifth edition here, there will all types of related events like performances including the Catan Kulit being planned while there will also be a Butoh workshop to be held on the 17th of November. Artistes from countries like France, Nigeria, Indonesia, Japan as well as Malaysia will be participating in this month long festival which will cover various genres and activities.
The festival will kick-off with a special photography exhibition entitled Catan Kulit which will be featuring some of the intricate movements of the Butoh performance captured on camera by No.2 Photography which will be held at The Boulevard @ Publika between 9th November and 18th November 2012.
