Following the recent success of the Ernest Zacharevic solo show, the Hin Bus Depot in Georgetown Penang is hosting its second art exhibition entitled Think About It. This show is a group art exhibition which will showcase the works of artists from the local and international front.
The focus is on the role of art in society which encompasses the issue of how artists are communicating through their body of work the messages and expressions that they want to bring across.
The works of Bibichun, Kangblabla, Renny Cheng, Tan Kai Sheuan from Malaysia and UKs Thomas Powell and Gabriel Marques were on display that provides a diverse and yet eclectic mix of different personas and styles for art lovers to view.
Powell, the 28 year old artist who came to Penang in 2009 as a backpacker, fell in love with the island and has been staying there ever since. He captured his amazement with the hawker lady selling noodles in his painting Excitingly Mundane. He is currently working on his art where he is believed to have 90 work-in-progress canvases while Kangblabla or Julius Raja Manickam adopts a contradictory approach in his body of work as seen in the Self-portrait painting of a Japanese lucky cat figurine.
