Group Show – Zain Azahari’s Favourites – 18th October 2013 – 7th December 2013

The Edge Galerie will be presenting the group art exhibition that will be showcasing the Zain Azahari Collection. The show is a special event that will be putting up 40 pieces of artwork from Zain’s prestigious collection.

There will be the painting by Abdul Latiff Mohidin entitled ‘Malam Merah’ and Hendra Gunawan’s ‘Makan Durian’ which are among those the more than 400 artworks in the collection.

Artworks in this show are not for sale which will be among the platforms used to document the prominent art which are in private collections. Zain, a lawyer in profession has been collecting artwork since 1962. It was then that he was given a small painting entitled ‘Batu Caves’ by Syed Ahmad Jamal that kickstarted his art collection efforts.

That painting will be part of this show as well while another gem would be Chang Fee Ming’s painting ‘Mandalay’ will be on show as well. Other works that one can expect in this show will include the works of some really prominent artists like Hoessein Enas, Ibrahim Hussein, Ahmad Zakii Anwar, Jalaini Abu HAsan, Dzulkifli Buyong, Patrick Ng, Chuah Thean Teng and Yusof Ghani, among many others while his Indonesian art collection will stem from artists like Sujana Suklu,  Srihadi Soerdasano, Putu Sutawijaya and Mangu Putra.
