As part of the 1MCAT (1Malaysia Contemporary Art Tourism) programme, the Ministry of Tourism is bringing the solo exhibition of emerging artist Christine Nalina Das for the viewing pleasure of the art-loving crowd in the country. The event is currently running until September 28th and it will be a great opportunity to see the works of this remarkable artist who was born and educated in Penang.
A graphic design graduate with the Sain Academy of Arts in the northern state, Christine is one of the contemporary artists in Malaysia today with a series of very compelling and consistent body of work. Her works have been floral in many forms which have remained strong coloured and bright.
This would be a series of work where Mother Nature is the central theme for the artist which captured her attention since young. Through her appreciation and love for nature, comes this body of work which will surely excite and invoke some inner thoughts of the viewer.
This would be a great chance to see the exciting collection of Christines latest production entitled Hot for Nature which will be held at the MaTic (Malaysia Tourism Centre)s Art Gallery. There would be works that have been inspired through her earlier work in illustrations and graphic design as well as animation. Christine was part of the backdrop crew who worked under scenic artist Peter Collias and Matt Connors when the shooting of Anna and the King took place in Malaysia in 1999 which flamed her passion for art.
In 2007, after having spent some 18 years in the industry as a graphic designer, Christine took the giant leap forward and became a full-time artist. Since then, she has been actively participating in shows and exhibitions which have seen her signature work being accepted and widely recognized. Today, she is produces some of the most remarkable art pieces and they are now available for viewing at the MaTic Art Gallery.
