It seems that art auctions are really gaining a stronghold in the Malaysian art scene as KL Lifestyle Art Space will be holding another one on December 2nd. Among the paintings that will be auctioned include the Rimba Landscape oil on canvas painting by renowned artist and poet Abdul Latiff Mohidin which comes with a pre-sale estimate of RM700,000.
The latest auction is entitled Malaysian Modern and Contemporary Art Auction 2012 and it will be one of the, if not largest art auction to be held in Malaysia. There will be a wide variety of artworks totally 108 pieces from 90 artists from their respective generations. Works by Datuk Ibrahim Hussein, Khalil Ibrahim, Wong Pern Fey, Chuah Thean Teng, Yusof Ghani and many others would be featured and they would range from RM2,200 to RM500,000.
The auction will be held at the Nusantara Ballroom at the Sheraton Imperial Hotel Kuala Lumpur where according to Datuk Gary Thanasan, the second auction was organised following the success of the first one that sold more than RM2.5million of artwork. A full viewing of all the artworks is currently on display at the KL Lifestyle Art Spaces gallery until the eve of the auction day.
