Come November, Wei-Ling Contemporary will be bringing the works of renowned Czech photographer Michal Macku to the Malaysian art scene again. The show is set to be held at Wei-Ling Contemporary at The Gardens Mall and will take place between 16th November to 17th December 2012.
This would essentially be the second solo show by Macku in Malaysia where he is known for his works in the Gellage photographic technique. This is a technique that he developed himself that has very much became his signature methods. Basically Gellage involves transferring the exposed and fixed photographic emulsion onto paper and then allowing the material to be reshape and reform the original images.
A graduate of the Technological Faculty of the Polytechnic Institute in Brno and the Institute of Art Photography in Prague, Michal Macku started working on this media since 1978 where he would later be involved in education at the Pedagogical Faculty of Palacky University in Olomouc. Since then, he has continued through his passion in photography before he ventured into becoming a full-time artist in 1992. As explorative as his works might be, that is just what Michal is in producing his artwork which can be seen at the show this coming November.
