Nature in Transformation – Solo exhibition by Susanna Hernesniemi at Galeri Seni Mutiara

This coming October, head on north to Penang where there will be a solo art exhibition by renowned artist Susanna Hernesniemi from Finland. Expect a lot of colour play and some abstract works from this artist who was born in West Australia and has made her name in the art scene of the region.

The Guest of Honour to grace the event would be Dr Chew Teng Beng, who is a renowned Malaysian artist himself. The solo exhibition is entitled ‘Nature in Transformation’ and will be held at the Galeri Seni Mutiara with the launch date set on 7th October 2012 at 6.00pm. Dr Chew is a PhD holder from the New York University and holds a Master and Bachelor in Fine Art from the University of Michigan. Known for his printmaking techniques and excellent craftsmanship, Dr Chew was among the 6 who were chosen in 1993 to represent the country during the Queensland Art Gallery Asia-Pacific Triennial of Contemporary Art in Australia and he is among those listed in the 1980 Cambridge volume of International Who’s Who of Intellectuals.

Meanwhile, the highlight would be on the extraordinary works of Susanna who is currently based in Penang where she works on her art. Her colourful landscapes and subject matter have always been an issue of interest among art lovers and collectors. She holds a Master of Arts from the University of Aarhus in Denmark in which she majored in Finnish Language and Fine Art and has been actively involved in the art scene around the world and most prominently in Malaysia. Susanna is a member of the Penang Art Society and was previously part of the KC-MITT Artists Association of Sweden and the Kunstnerhuset in Silkeborg in Denmark. The exhibition will go on from the 7th until 28th October 2012.
