Penang State Art Gallery Permanent Collection Exhibition at Penang State Art Gallery – 300

The Penang State Art Gallery will be hosting an exhibition this coming October where it will showcase its permanent collection of artworks. The group exhibition will be one of the most exciting ones on the calendar as it will be showing some of the most compelling works of the gallery’s collection in the past few decades.

The Penang State Art Gallery is part of the Penang State Museum and Art Gallery which have been a strong mover in the development of the arts and history of the northern state. Housed along Jalan McAllister, the Penang State Art Gallery has been hosting a wide range of exhibitions and events that has showcased some of the most remarkable works of artists around the country and has been enjoyed by art lovers and enthusiasts from all walks of life.

Entitled the ‘Penang State Art Gallery Permanent Collection Exhibition’, the show will be held from 1st October to the 28th October 2012 and that means it will be a whole month to immerse in some of the best works of Malaysian artists collected by the gallery and state museum.

There will be works that have been exhibited and acquired by the Penang State Art Gallery from 1965 to 2011 which will encompass the likes of paintings, installations, sculptures and even print making. The exhibition will be held at the 3 main premises of the gouda floor of the gallery as well the Dewan Sri Pinang on the third floor.

There will be a media screening on the 6th October at 4.00pm at the gallery while works from Malaysian artists would be featured at the showcase. Among those that have been collected by the museum include Allen Soon, Cheah Thean Soon, Chan Kok Hooi, Khaw Sia, Shamsul Bahari, Datuk Syed Ahmad Jamal, Victor Chin and the widely popular Zulkifli Yusoff.
