Following the recently concluded Short+Sweet Stand-Up comedy Malaysia, the Short+Sweet Malaysia festival is set to continue with the Musical version which will be held between 26th to 29th September. Touted as the Worlds Biggest Little Play Festival, klPAC (Kuala Lumpur Performing Arts Centre) is the venue of the Short+Sweet festival which was first held at the Newton Theatre in Sydney in 2002.
In Malaysia, the festival is held in Kuala Lumpur and Penang and the next stage would be an all singing version of the Short+Sweet event which have garnered much publicity among the art loving crowd in recent years.
This annual event will bring together some of the emerging new talents and established ones who will be performing their short musicals for the audiences. Opera, comedy or rock and any other genre the artists could conjure up, the Short+Sweet Malaysia Musical will surely have something for everyone in each of the 10 minutes sessions.
There would be awards given out for this years edition and that would include prizes like Best Libretto, Best Musical Director, Best Actor (Male and Female), Best Supporting Actor (Male and Female), Peoples Choice Award, Best Glitz & Glamour, Best Director, Best Composition and the Best Overall Production.
Ticket prices are at RM28 for adults while students, senior citizens and the disabled pay only RM23. A Gala night is also planned up or a festival package combo would be RM92 for 4 tickets which is not applicable for the Gala night.
After the Musical edition, the festival continues with the Short+Sweet Dance from 3rd to 14th October and then concludes with the Short+Sweet Theatre which will be held from 17th to 28th October. This would be fifth year that the Short+Sweet event is held in Malaysia which reportedly is getting bigger and better.
