OUR ArtProjets will be hosting the first solo exhibition of Malaysian contemporary artist Shahril Nizam this coming April. Shahril’s works were recently seen at the Arts for Grabs March 2013 and his latest works will be seen at this show entitled ‘In Between: Transitions & Dead Ends’.

If you haven’t already know, Shahril is no stranger in the local literary scene where he illustrated books like ‘Malaysian Politicians Say the Darndest Things Vol 1’ by Amir Muhammad, Bernice Chauly’s ‘Growing Up with Ghosts’ and Readings vol 1 and 2, which is a collection of Malaysian writing.

On top of that, Shahril has published his own ‘If Only’ book, which is a collection of poetry and illustrations. This would be the inaugural progamme by OUR ArtProjects which will be featuring the paintings, drawings and sculptures of Shahril. The show will be held at the 67 Tempinis Gallery where it will be showcasing the works that has gone through some intuitive exploration of this artist’s that dates back to the last 4 years. He uses mediums like Plaster of Paris and others where it can be seen that he is widely inspired by local legends like Dzulkifli Buyong and international cartoonist Lat.
