Wei-Ling Contemporary is currently running the latest solo show by one of the most established Malaysian contemporary artists, Chin Kong Yee. The show is entitled Infinite Canvas which is running until the end of January which will be showcasing the signature works of Kong Yee that he has often been associated with.
The Infinite Canvas show will be his first solo exhibition in 2 years and this is also his sixth solo with Wei-Ling. As seen in most of Kong Yees recent works, the blue-toned city landscapes are yet again featured. Kong Yees first solo show with Wei-Ling came through his Undulating Skies and then went on with other very successful ones like Cerulean Skies, Reality in Wonderland and New Landscapes.
For this show, there will be some very interesting factors involved as Kong Yee will be showcasing 5 pieces of paintings in total. Each of the paintings, created in his signature panoramic view is made up of 2 panels each. The 2 panels of each paintings can be placed interchangeable in 12 possible permutations, each one creating a totally different image using the same subject matter. Such is the value of Kong Yees work where he depicted various cityscapes of Kuala Lumpur including the highly publicized Bersih 3.0 rally.
