The Kuala Lumpur Performing Arts Centre (klPac) will be hosting a solo art exhibition by Jake Goh this coming November. The show is entitled Sunflowers and as it is implied, the exhibition will feature a series of paintings by Jake that focuses around the theme of sunflowers. Like the famous Van Gogh painting of a vase with sunflower, this somewhat extends that masterpiece in many ways and angles. This is where Jake takes the subject matter and produces artworks through the macro and micro views and subsequently creating some of the most exciting paintings seen in recent months.
It is always a challenge for any artist to produce a series of work that focuses on one specific subject matter and that is what Jake has done so meticulously in this exhibition. The Setapak-born artist has a very unique talent of bringing out different facades of a specific object and then putting them into perspective onto his body of work, usually adopting a variety of colours blended to perfection. The Sunflowers show will be showcasing some of Jakes remarkable signature style of oil painting which is rare among Malaysian artists today which will be at klPac from November 12th to 25th.
