The Bank Negara Art Gallery, one of the most prestigious art galleries in Malaysia is hosting a solo exhibition by Latiff Mohidin. The exhibition is entitled Siri Serangga or Insects Series which will showcase some of the more remarkable work of Latiff who is one of the most prominent and established artists in Malaysia.
The event will run from 28th November 2012 to next 28th January where it was launched by Tan Sri Dr Akhtar Aziz, the Bank Negara Governor. Siri Serangga will be featuring some of the latest works by Latiff who has been one of the prime movers and shakers of the Malaysian art scene where he has been making great art for decades. Apart from this show, Latiffs works will also be seen at the National Visual Arts Gallery entitled Retrospective that will showcase 60 years of his artwork.
Siri Serangga is a collaborative effort between the artist and Bank Negara Malaysia and this would be the first solo exhibition of new works in 5 years. Apart from that, it is also the first time Bank Negara is showcasing Latiffs solo show which will involve 33 mixed media artworks. Latiff also presented the Bahasa Malaysia translation of Johann Wolfgang von Goethes Faust, a German classic drama to Dr Guenter Gruber, the German Ambassador to Malaysia during the opening.
