Lim Bee Tat is one of the few Malaysian artists who have been constantly and very persistently working on the watercolour medium where he likes to paint fishing villages as his subject matter. A true local boy in his own, Bee Tats delicate works is often seen in high regards by the viewers.
In his latest works in The Rhapsody of Fishing Village will be showing off his evolution from the more traditional watercolour strokes of fishing villages to a more mature and expressive series in which he now adopts more fantasy-like elements. Born in Taiping in Perak, he has since moved on from his usual documentary-type of paintings to a more intimate and emotional association of other elements in his work while he still stay true to his passion in this medium and body of work. Hence, it is no surprise that Bee Tats paintings are no longer just about the simple fishing villages and its sceneries but that of a more sophisticated and abstract manner of interpretation seen in this new series.
