The G13 Gallery is currently hosting the solo exhibition by Liu Cheng Hua. Liu is one of the emerging young contemporary artists who has been involved in several group exhibitions and efforts for noble efforts like the Merapi Exhibition organized by House of Matahati and the Seni Untuk Aids event in 2009 as well as winning several recognitions along the way.
This time around, his latest works is showcased by G13 Gallery and is named La (Root). The exhibition will feature his latest works which is inspired by the original colonial name for Taiping, Perak, one of the oldest towns in Malaysia. La (Root) is a direct pronunciation for Larut, which means the base and it will include a series of mini-installations, 2 and 3-dimensional artwork of Liu which revisits the historical heritage of Taiping.
It will explore and showcase the efforts of former leaders like Kapitan Chung Keng Kwee, Ngah Ibrahim and other figures from the Indian community of the historical town who have played an important role or have been someone prominent in Taiping throughout history, most notably around the mid 1800s. The opening of the exhibition will be on the 15th of December and it will run until the end of the year.
