White Box @ Publika will be hosting the solo show of renowned Malaysian artist Md Fadli Yusoff between 30th January and 8th February 2013. This will be an ideal and perfect show for those of you who like art which streams along religious issues and that is what Fadli Yusoff will be featuring. The show is simply entitled Md Fadli Yusoff 2007-2012 which will bring out works from this artist in the 5 year period.
Combining an ancient practice as the subject matter and contemporary methods, this solo exhibition will showcase 30 figurative artworks which is organized in collaboration with the experimental art group, 12. It will exciting to see how Fadli ventures into figurative works as it is the first time he is entering this still-life realm. The graduate from the then Institut Teknologi Mara in Fine Arts have not done any figurative works since his university days when he came under the tutelage of a renowned Malaysian artist, Amron Omar.
Told that it was haram to paint figurative art by some theory, he held back and focused on landscapes instead which he has since been known for. He then found out that there are actually guidelines to follow and in understanding the issue better, he ventured into his interest and this show is the result of his 5 years of hardwork.
