The National Visual Arts Gallery is currently hosting a solo exhibition entitled Pancawarana Karya Pilihan 1990 2012 which is showcasing the exemplary artworks of Dato Sharifah who is more fondly known in the art scene simply as Fatimah.
The former curator with NVAG or Balai Seni Lukis Negara then ventured to become a full-time artist where after giving up the post at the gallery, she has been involved in many exhibitions and activities in the arts not only within Malaysia bout around the region as well.
This show seeks to appreciate her works which was officiated by the new Minister of Tourism and Culture, Datuk Seri Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz. Fatimahs work has often been associated with natural elements through her own unique abstract expressions. She is among the earliest graduates from the Art and Design school of the then ITM (Institute Teknologi Mara) back in 1967 which have since produced some of the finest Malaysian artists of our time.
She personally curated this show together with the team at NVAG that will depict her works between 1990 and 2012. There are 100 pieces of artwork exhibition through 5 main series which include Touch The Earth (1992-1996), Mindscape (1991-1993), Joy Is The Theme (1997-2003), Garden of The Heart (2005-2011) and the most recent one, Celebration (2010-12).
