The Penang State Museum & Art Gallery is currently hosting the solo exhibition by Simon Tan. The exhibition is entitled ‘Poetry of Nature’ which was officiated by YB Madam Chong Eng, the State Executive Councilor for Youth & Sports, Women, Family and Community Development.

This is not Simon’s first solo exhibition as he has had one in 1996 at the Penas Art Gallery. He had joined several group exhibitions before where his works have often captured the essence of the sceneries he sees around him and paints them. Apart from that, his works have been seen in places like Taiwan at the International Water Colour Exhibition Ping Tung, in Singapore at the First Singapore International Woodcarving Symposium “Dusk Till Dawn” as well as in China at the 4th Exhibition Of New Expression Of Asia Art in Henan.

As the name implies, the exhibition will be exploring the various elements of nature showcased through Simon’s unique painting methods. There will be in total 30 pieces of artwork which will be on displayed which have been made on various mediums like oil and water color on canvas.

Simon had only recently painted his first mural at the Chew Jetty in April this year entitled Akong and Amah which was later changed to Amah and Asoon after the first one was vandalized. He has since won several art-related awards that include the Tanjung Heritage Art Award and the Cornucopia of Malaysia, Excellent Award.

Opening Hours: Sundays to Thursdays – 9.00am to 5.00pm
