The Pipal Fine Art gallery is hosting a solo exhibition at its new space in Publika. The show will be a solo exhibition by one of Malaysias most established artists, Soh Chee Hui entitled Painting. Artist. Most of Chee Huis works have been renowned overseas and this would only be his second solo show in Malaysia in the past 5 years. In his latest effort, it will be featuring a series of portraitures from the artists environment. Chee Hui has often exuded his Chinese heritage in his paintings. He graduated from the highly prestigious Nanyang Academy of Fine Art in Singapore in 1990 before continuing his studies at the University of Central England in Birmingham and has gone on to produce some of the most compelling works around through an illustrious art career which is still going on strong.
He is the winner of the 1992 United Overseas Banks Painting of the Year award. Born in 1967 in Batu Pahat in Johor, Chee Huis artwork of several types of medium have travelled to various parts of the world that include Hong Kong, Taiwan, United States as well as to Hungary and now in Malaysia. In addition to that, he won the Merit Award at the Singapore Urbanart Competition and Honourable Mention in the Philip Morris Group of Companies Asian Art Awards while in 1995, he won the Silver Award at the 7th International Biennial Print & Drawing Exhibition 1995 in Taipei, Taiwan.
