Galeri Seni Mutiara in Penang is set to hold the solo exhibition of Chiang Soa Ling. This will essentially showcase the latest series of watercolour paintings by the self-taught artist who has painted some of the most remarkable realistic artworks seen around Malaysia. The show will open on the 2nd of December 2012 and will be graced by Dato Tay Mo-Leong, who is a renowned and very respective artists in the country himself.
Chiang is a full-time artist who was born in 1941 in Alor Setar, Kedah. He is known for his exemplary works in watercolour which he has been working on for many years. As an artist, Chian has won numerous awards including the 1982, Malaysia Scenery Watercolour Painting Award, the 1984 Malaysia Watercolour Painting Award, the 1989 Malaysia Scenery Watercolour Painting as well as the 1994s edition. His works have been collected by some of Malaysias most renowned leaders and royalties like the Sultan of Kedah, the Sultan of Selangor as well as former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
The Solo 9 represents his ninth solo exhibition that dates back to 1990 when he had his first show organized by Essor Hiroshima Holding, Japan while he also had solo shows in Ktusyu, Fukuka and in the Netherlands too.
