Solo Exhibition – Sublime Angkor – 12th October 2012 – 11th November 2012

The Sutra Gallery has often hosted a variety of Indian cultural exhibitions of the arts in recent years and the latest event would be that of a solo photography show by Magendran Subramaniam. The exhibition will be held at the gallery at the Sutra Dance Theatre which will allow the viewer a trip around Angkor Wat in Cambodia. The scenes around the heritage site is one of the most breathtaking ones in the world and when seen through the lens of this artist, the elements and unique features of the sceneries there would stand out even more.

However, taking pictures of the old temples as its backdrop is only part of the process as Magen has captures them through his main subject of various classical Indian aesthetic dance poses. Essentially, the exhibition will be showcasing 23 photographs of the dancers of Sutra Foundation. Magen, a 25-year old photographer from Cheras specialises in dance photography and has been quite a talent in this filed. He started taking up photography at the age of 21 where he continued to venture into his passion after that. A unique feature about this exhibition is that the photographs are captured to tell a story very much like how an Indian classical dances usually do where they priced between RM900 to RM5,500 each.

Opening Hours: Mondays –Fridays, 11.00am-5.00pm
