Wei-Ling Contemporary will be hosting a solo exhibition from Malaysian contemporary artist Wong Chee Meng. The show will be featuring the latest works from Chee Meng whose last solo exhibition was in 2008. Entitled The Urban Abyss, Chee Meng will be demonstrating how far he has come since his Inward show the last time around.
The Urban Abyss is the result of Chee Mengs experimental work where he adopts several image-making techniques and combines them in his own trademarked colourful juxtaposition of his very own original expression. Through his body of work, Chee Meng exudes the importance of art and recognizing its presence in our everyday lives.
As with most of Chee Mengs works, the viewer will be experiencing a compelling set of images that invokes the thoughts where through his own fictional composition bring about a unique way of story-telling. The artworks will showcase Chee Mengs response to the current social events where he uses a very creative method of combining the different techniques he can conjure. The artists signature style is still very evident while one can see just how far he has come, injecting contemporary methods and issues in his body of work which is totally original and personal to Chee Meng himself while maintaining the relevance and relationship with the viewer.
