Eric Quah, the Taiping born abstract artist is currently having his latest works on show at the G-Hotel Gallery. The show is entitled Voyage which is used to depict his take on life where one has to endure all types of weather conditions and anything that comes along while only being able to sail along.
The award winning artist has travelled far and wide to be where he is today. At 67-years old, he shows no sign of slowing down where he grew up in the northern state of Penang before pursuing his education and career overseas.
Having travelled to places like China, the United States and Australia where he has spent more than half his lifetime in, he returned to Penang about 10 years ago and this solo exhibition is somewhat a symbol of his homecoming for having been back for a decade. There will be 12 artworks being featured in this show which Eric says represent his life and influenced by the works of De Kooning and Van Gogh in what would be his 47th solo exhibition to date.
It is perhaps in his travels that one get to see so many influences intertwined among one another and his works were recently selected in November 2011 by the prestigious Penang State Art Gallery in a retrospective exhibition.
