The PinkGuy Malaysia Art and Frame is holding a solo art exhibition which will be featuring the works of Malaysian artist Chng Huck Theng. The title of the show is What is an Apple? where it will be featuring some very thought provoking works from this very illustrious artist.
Chng, who is the founder of the One East Museum is a renowned and very established contemporary artist where he will be showcasing 14 paintings which will be portraying his expressions in abstract expressionism. Always one who injects some pop art features in his work, this series will exude his challenge in going beyond paintings that are often seen as beautiful where he seeks to drive the viewer into knowing the importance of issues related to the environment.
This body of work will be indicating his personal perception of the earths natural resources and how it is slowly depleting. Chng has often been associated with more 3-dimensional artwork like sculptures and by venturing into a solo show on paintings; it could well be a bold step away from his comfort zone. Hence, he seeks into issues like the relationship of humans with the world and talks about violence and global warming among others. The apple is a symbolic gesture to remind viewers of how life was once simpler.
