A solo exhibition by Indonesian artist Rudy Mardijanto is currently being held at the Interpr8 Art Space. The show is entitled Indonesian Rural Society in Transition) which projects some of the very interesting images of rural Indonesia as seen by the artist.
Rudy paints the rich culture and the fusion of technology with tradition in his own way. This is an interesting show which centrals around the theme where if one watched closely enough could see how technology had invaded the rural life in Indonesia.
His style is very much traditional and in many ways projects the rustic feel and tone of rural life as one might imagine with some clear and stronger contrast of colors to demonstrate the modernization element. The sceneries that Rudy painted are from his home and origin in Central Java which is why they are personal and close to his heart.
A graduate from the Art Academy ISI, Rudy has been actively participating in the Indonesian art scene and the neighbouring countries. Although this is only his first solo show, he has been engaged with H Gallery in Jakarta 6 times at the Art Expo Malaysia as well as 2 solo shows in Singapore in 2007 and 2009 respectively.
Opening Hours: Mondays to Sundays 11.00am 7.00pm
