Whenever an art exhibition comes with a title Memory, one can expect it to be pretty much a nostalgic and rustic-style show with a trip down memory lane either for the artist or the audience. Hence, this is what one can come to expect with the solo show by Jade Beh entitled Memory of Good Old Days.
The show is hosted by Galeri Seni Mutiara, this is an exhibition which will feature the works of this artist who was one of the top 5 winners of the Pact Max Malaysian Art Award in 2007. According to Jade, whose grandmother was a nyonya, her exposure to the dressing of the nyonya culture gave her the first impression of what beauty is. To her, it is glamorous and enchanting which pulled her into her artistic realm.
Hence, her intention to retain the memory in her artworks saw her created this series of work. Jade is very active in the regional art scene where her works have been seen in places like Penang, Kuala Lumpur and towards north in Thailand where she was involved in the 6th Thailand-Malaysia Women Artists Art Exhibition at the Craft House Museum and Art Gallery in Hatyai earlier this year, among many others.
