Galeri Chandan will be hosting the solo show from Singaporean artist Rofizano Zaino. The show is entitled Psyched which will explore the many facets of the face and its expressions. 13 works by the Malay artists will be showcased by Rofi, as he is fondly known that will be venturing into the sociopolitical identity of the face and other elements.
Painting of faces and figures is one of the main interests from this artist where he looks at them as more than merely portraits. In fact, the faces in his paintings are some kind of metaphor that relates a lot to the elements of identity, dignity, humor and reputation, among others. This would be one angle that not many can come usually associate with especially when it has something to do with art.
Rofi is trained as a graphic artist where he is a self-taught painter who specifically likes to paint faces. His works have been seen in some of the more popular spaces that include the inaugural Singapore Art Exhibition held at the Singapore Art Museum. The 1970 born artist has had solo shows in places like the Hillyer Art Space in Washington, US earlier this year with the same name while he has had shows at renowned art spaces like the Volvo Art Loft, the Substation Gallery and the Agora Gallery in New York as well.
