When it comes to watercolor art and painting, the usual perception one gets is the first generation of Malaysian artists who are usually associated with the northern states of Penang, Kedah and the surrounding areas.
In the contemporary art scene, watercolor artists are rather limited and not many dares to venture into this type of medium especially with the popularity of more the more modern cousins like the acrylic and oil paints.
As such, it seems like the time is right and Art Gallery is hosting a solo show entitled Setitis Bening. This show is held at the fine art studio and gallery located in Desa Melawati in Kuala Lumpur which will be featuring the watercolor paintings of Mohamad Wan Dagang.
If the images are anything to go by, it will surely be an interesting exhibition from the artist who comes from Kuala Terengganu. The remarkable thing about Wan Dagang is that he has been in the art scene for 20 years now and this is only his first solo exhibition. Using nature and the Malay culture as his subject matter, the poet translates his literary work into images and paints them onto the canvas. At 65 and hosting his first solo show, it proves that nothing is ever too late for this artist.
Opening Hours: Monday to Saturday 10.00am to 5.00pm
