Taksu Kuala Lumpur will be hosting a solo exhibition by Edroger C Rosili throughout the month of October. The show is entitled W.O.Y.M? which stands for What is in your mind?. Edroger is a graduate of UiTM (Universiti Teknologi Mara) where he holds a degree in Fine Arts. The Sarawak-born artist is riding on the popularly-known phrase adopted on social media, most evidently in Facebook which is the phrase used in the status update.
What better ways to mark an entrance into the local art scene than to be in one of the most exciting art spaces, showcasing contemporary art and the issues of social media and that is what Edroger is doing so effectively.
Observing the complexity and vulnerability of this platform, Edroger uses what he learns from these usual actions on social media and comes up with a series of work that depicts some brave and somewhat courageous notions of politics, social and personal issues.
He combines culture with art, fantasy with tradition and showcases some expressive faces of people like Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, the prime minister of Malaysia and his political rival Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. How all these relate to the artist might look personal but they somewhat provokes the audiences thoughts as well.
