Pace Gallery is currently hosting the latest works of renowned Malaysian artist Yusof Majid. An artist who is known to love Malaysian history and the object of the Keris, he has used both these elements in this series of works inspired by his favourite places around Peninsular Malaysia.
As with Yusofs previous works in recent years, he is showcasing his large paintings done mainly in acrylic paint. There are some very familiar scenes that have been depicted by Yusof in The Peninsular and that includes Kuala Lumpurs Lake Gardens, Bukit Jelutong in Shah Alam, Taman Negara, Raub, the Penang Bridge and the tea plantations of Cameron Highlands.
Anyone who has seen Yusofs recent works will notice the way he injects naive art sentiments into his paintings which still can be seen in certain ways at this show. His unique juxtaposition of nature
